The Journal of Community Service and Application (JOCOSA) encourages authors to provide a clear and transparent statement describing the individual contributions of each author. The Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) provides a standardized framework for identifying and reporting the specific contributions made by each author to a research article.
A CRediT statement helps readers, editors, and reviewers understand the specific responsibilities and contributions of each author. Authors should ensure that the contribution statement accurately reflects the work performed during the research and manuscript preparation process.
Purpose of the CRediT Statement
To provide transparency regarding individual author contributions.
To recognize the different roles performed by each contributor.
To clarify responsibility for different aspects of the research.
To reduce ambiguity regarding authorship and contribution.
To promote responsible and transparent scholarly publishing.
CRediT Contributor Roles
1. Conceptualization Development of the research idea, objectives, research questions, and overall conceptual framework of the study.
2. Methodology Development or design of the methodology, research procedures, techniques, instruments, and analytical approach.
3. Investigation Conducting the research activities, including data collection, fieldwork, interviews, observations, experiments, or other research activities.
4. Data Curation Managing, organizing, documenting, cleaning, and maintaining research data for analysis and future use.
5. Formal Analysis Applying statistical, mathematical, computational, or other analytical techniques to analyze research data.
6. Writing – Original Draft Preparation, creation, and writing of the initial version of the manuscript.
7. Writing – Review & Editing Critical review, revision, editing, and improvement of the manuscript before submission or publication.
8. Visualization Preparation of figures, diagrams, tables, graphical representations, or other visual elements of the research.
9. Supervision Oversight and leadership responsibility for the research activities, including mentoring and guidance of other authors.
10. Project Administration Management and coordination of the research project, including scheduling, documentation, communication, and administrative responsibilities.
Author Contribution Requirements
Each author should be assigned only those CRediT roles that accurately represent their actual contribution to the research and manuscript. One author may have multiple roles, and the same role may be performed by more than one author.
Authors should discuss and agree upon their respective contributions before submitting the manuscript. The CRediT statement should be consistent with the authorship information provided in the manuscript and the journal submission system.
