These guidelines provide a framework for reviewers of manuscripts submitted to Journal of Community Service and Application (JOCOSA). Reviewers are expected to provide independent, balanced, timely, and constructive evaluations to support fair editorial decisions.
1. Understand the Scope of the Manuscript
Reviewers should first determine whether the manuscript addresses a topic relevant to the scope of JOCOSA and whether the manuscript provides a meaningful contribution to community service, community development, application, empowerment, innovation, or related fields.
2. Evaluate the Manuscript Systematically
Reviewers should evaluate the manuscript systematically, considering the title, abstract, introduction, methods or implementation approach, results, discussion, conclusion, references, tables, figures, and supporting information.
3. Provide Evidence-Based Comments
Comments should refer to specific parts of the manuscript whenever possible. Reviewers should distinguish between major concerns that affect the validity or contribution of the manuscript and minor issues such as wording, formatting, or typographical errors.
4. Avoid Offensive or Personal Comments
Review comments must remain professional and focused on the manuscript. Personal attacks, insulting language, discriminatory remarks, sarcasm, or comments about the author's personal characteristics are not acceptable.
